This is an old revision of the document!

This shit just doesn't get talked about often enough. The disaster hit in 2023, the Zone was formally created later that year. In just 9 years the Zone has seen roughly a 25-30% expansion in diameter. Scale that up for area, you're looking at a nearly 60% increase in area. Granted, a big chunk of that is out to sea, but that's still a pretty serious problem for Irish Sea shipping.

Now we're hearing there's been another expansion, this time the barriers are being pushed out a full mile. Rumour has it this is causing serious grief at the Government staging area in Barrow-in-Furness. Too much further and the boundary walls are going to push Barrow into the sea once and for all.

Worst is, no-one knows why the Zone expands, why it's such a short, sharp process, or what triggers it. Face it, none of us have the first fucking clue why the Zone is here at all. Some of us are watching the numbers, and collecting the data and we see a clear pattern.

  • There is a triggering event for an expansion. There is no pattern in the timing, so the easy assumption is a man-made trigger. Nature loves a pattern.
  • Each expansion is bigger in percentage terms than its predecessors.
  • Each expansion rewrites the anomaly maps. It moves some anomalies, creates others and alters the properties of several of them. We can't tell from here, obviously, but it must play havoc with shipping lanes that need to navigate round shit they can't see on the sea bed. No-one's seen a helicopter in 5 years, so it must have gotten too hard to map the aerial anomalies and fly round them. This could also mean that anomalous materials the scientists have found a use for may have a very, very limited supply. Shit could turn nasty fast.
  • The Zone should encompass all of the UK, Ireland and parts of northern France by 2040. By 2050 it will cover about 33% of the Earth's landmass and by 2055, all of it.
