Combat Calls

As of August 2026 we are adding a third combat call to the game, for use in very specific NPC scenarios (players are of course free to use and abuse the call however they see fit). Players researching new skills should keep in mind that introducing new calls is something the game team is very keen to avoid.

Point Blank

This call can only be used on someone reduced to 0 health in ranged combat or 0 hits in melee combat. Anyone using this call must be within 2 or 3 metres of their target. They should fire a single round from their firearm towards the target and then make the call Point Blank. The target is then unconscious and should start a 300 second death count. If they reach 0 they have died. The target cannot use First Aid on themselves and must be healed by someone else.

Subdue

This call can only be used on someone reduced to 0 health in ranged combat or 0 hits in melee combat. Anyone using this call must be less than a metre away from their target. They should mime some kind of action that would render someone unconscious without making physical contact. The target is rendered unconscious but does not start their death count. They can be awoken by awoken with a few seconds of suitable roleplay at which point they can heal themselves, assuming no-one else did already. On the same principle as the rules here if no-one finds the unconscious character then they will eventually bleed to death at the referee's discretion. In general terms if someone is actively looking for the character they will not die, they will bleed to death at the point everyone stops looking or there's no-one left to look.

Coup de Grace

This call can only be used by players. NPCs will never use this call.
As with Point Blank, this call can only be used on someone reduced to 0 health in ranged combat or 0 hits in melee combat. You must be within 1 metre of your target, and should fire at least 2 rounds into the target, or roleplay a suitable melee strike meant to kill. The target is immediately killed with no death count.
It is worth noting that while a Coup de Grace kills 99.9% of targets in the Zone, that 0.1% is very much still out there…
If you are deliberately aiming to kill an NPC or prevent an NPC from regenerating please use this call so that the relevant crew member knows what you are doing. We have had a few occasions where a PC thought they had killed an NPC because they stabbed them multiple times but the regenerating NPC still got up because they were briefed only to stop on hearing that call.
