Reputation

The referee team will be tracking the reputation of each individual freelancer. It runs on a scale from 0 to 5.

ReputationDescription
0Pond scum. You have been ostracised from the Bar and will most likely be shot on sight. If there isn't a contract on you there soon will be
1Barely tolerated. You will receive lower mission pay, you will find yourself left with the missions no-one else wants, and one or more factions want you dead
2Rookie. Newly arrived, you are something of an unknown quantity. Try not to piss anyone off. Failing that you're an experienced freelancer who did something stupid and is building their rep up again.
3Old hand. You've run a few missions, made a few credits and gathered some useful contacts. Most experienced freelancers are around this level. Some missions will pay out a little extra and you might find the Barkeep a little more generous in trades.
4Hero. Your name is known across the region as a reliable freelancer. Earning this level of reputation means you did something worthy of a few campfire stories and had your fellow freelancer's backs when it counted. All missions pay out a little extra and you might find a few more side missions come your way.
5Legend. Your name is known across the Zone and your deeds are legendary. You are the subject of endless campfire tales, and are held up as an example to the rookies. You can sometimes command your own price for your skills on missions.

Raising Your Rep

Succeed in missions, look after other freelancers and defend the freelancer community against turncoats and opportunists. Keep mission casualties low, be honest in (most of) your dealings and maintain at least a veneer of professionalism. Moving from 3 to 4 or 5 requires a little more work and some actions that go above and beyond the expected normal behaviour. It is also possible to buy your way to a better reputation. This is a risky route and can end in disaster, but if you want to try it speak to a referee.

Lowering Your Rep

Get caught stealing, run away in combat, abandon teammates, take heavy casualties on a mission, engage in (some) PvP actions, lie about your skills or achievements, fail missions or just plain suck at your job.

Reputation Calculations

All reputation changes are solely at referee discretion and the team will not be sharing any information about reputation other than through roleplay and obvious consequences. Reputation will be measured on a scale from 0 to 5. Moving up in reputation is a slow process, but dropping can be very sudden and very sharp. There are no hard and fast rules.

Expulsion

If you hit 0 reputation and are expelled from the Bar your character is now essentially unplayable. They will not be able to access missions, enter the Bar or use credits. It might be possible to keep playing with support from other characters but it is highly unlikely you will be able to access events fully.
